Europe announces that Gran Turismo 5 for PlayStation 3 is further enhanced for its gamers, thanks to the Functionality Update 2.02 and a new downloadable content car pack. Gran Turismo fans will definitely love this early gift by Sony Computer Entertainment Europe.
The fifth installment of the ever popular Gran Turismo franchise was launched in November of last year, and the game sold a whopping 5.5 million units within just two weeks of the launch. Ever since the game was sold in the market, Sony has introduced a couple of updates to Gran Turismo 5. The most significant, so far, has been the 2.0 update, which has been introduced by the company in October 2011. This month’s update continues the trend of providing Gran Turismo 5 fans with the improvements they have been requesting the developers of this record-breaking video game title.
Functionality Update 2.02 has a couple of new enhancements to the game such as tyre wear speed adjustment and a copy feature in the settings sheets.
Aside from the Functionality Update 2.02, fans of Gran Turismo 5 also have the option of adding to the already impressive list of cars within the game—all they have to do is to purchase the downloadable content (DLC) Car Pack 2 through their PlayStation Store account. Included in this DLC car pack are four impressive new cars, such as a brand-new and thoroughly improved Nissan GT-R Black Edition R5, the 2011 Mini Cooper S, the 2010 Volkswagen Golf VI R, and the 2010 Volkswagen Scirocco R. These breathtaking beauties are not available elsewhere, so make sure you include it in your holiday wishlist for more Gran Turismo 5 fun.
Sony Computer Entertainment Europe is also introducing a couple of new gifts for the loyal Gran Turismo 5 fans this holiday season. When you update to the 2.02 Functionality, you will get the extra option to change the wheels of standard cars. Plus, there are ten free coupons that will allow you to wash your cars, change oil, bring your car in for an engine overhaul, and refresh the car body in GT Auto. But the fun does not stop there—when you have installed the 2.02 update, you will also receive another vivacious vehicle: the Toyota 86 GT ’12. On the other hand, players who have purchased the DLC car packs released in October will receive the Gran Turismo Racing Kart 125 SP and five New Car Refresh Cards, which can be used to restore any of your damaged cars to mint condition, without losing any of the parts you have added or your paint jobs.
Another new feature for the Gran Turismo 5 is a free family upgrade, which will allow more than one user per PlayStation 33 unit to buy the Racing Car Pack 1 and the Course Pack 1 DLC, both of which were released in October.
