These Five Modern Games Should Never have Gotten a Sequel

2011 is harboring some extremely anticipated AAA titles set to arrive near the end of the year. While the fourth quarter is traditionally when the big sequels and games launch, let's not forget the games which weren't so worthy of sequels. Here are five modern games that should never have become series.

Prey 2

The first Prey game was a flop. Over-hyped like so many other failures, Prey (1) hardly amassed a cult following to say the least. When Prey 2 was announced I recall fainting from the surprise and disbelief. After waking up I learned it was no April Fools joke or false rumor, but an actual concrete truth that such a horrid game would receive a sequel. After footage emerged of the game, my doubts were erased as I soon discovered Prey 2 almost has nothing in relation to the first game. Making me wonder, why the hell is it called Prey 2?

Deadliest Warrior: Legends

When developers tread in genres they know little about, it's not surprising when the resulted aftermath is a lousy game. With a Metacritic score of 56/100, you'd wonder whose idea it was to even consider a sequel. Yet like clockwork Deadliest Warrior: Legends is released a year later sharing almost identical flaws. Sure the series is improving, but the snail pace of progress is hardly worth applauding.

PROTOTYPE 2

The original PROTOTYPE wasn't a horrible game, it just suffered from a bad case of being average. Going up against the PS3 exclusive inFamous didn't help its cause either, and PROTOTYPE was quickly buried for its horrid difficulty progression and generally uninteresting plot. I did enjoy some of the special powers, and I do like sandbox titles, however a sequel isn't very promising unless changes are aplenty.

I was honestly expecting just another ignorant list here... but I couldn't agree more about all of your games you listed here. Legitimate arguments and everything. Nice work.
