Gameplay Today - Because You're Always Gaming

The world of Final Fantasy is packed full of impressive and memorable characters that have produced some of the most intense debates among gamers. We don't aim to end any of those verbal battles today, but have taken the chance to look the characters that we think just might be the most badass characters ever to appear in the Final Fantasy series. It's tough to make any list, but was even harder trying to limit this one down to just five. If you think we missed someone, let us know in the comments below. So without any more stalling, here we go:

Cecil Harvey

Cecil, the hero of Final Fantasy IV, came from being a Dark Knight to being a savior of the world. He starts out the game basically being a murderer and realizing the darkness that he has been enveloped in needs to be stopped. He turns against the evil country he was once part of and goes to the side of good. He gives up being the leader of a near unstoppable force known as the Red Wings and sets out to save the world and that is why he is number 5 on our list of the best heroes.

Auron

Auron is one of Yuna’s guardians in Final Fantasy X. After being a guardian for her father, who went on to defeat the ultimate evil known as Sin and bring about the Calm, he went and watched over the main protagonist, Tidus. Auron eventually bring Tidus to Spira to be one of Yuna’s guardians. Later in the game it is revealed that the “rides Sin” to go between the dimensions. On top of this, he is also easily one of the best characters in the game, not to mention he is a ghost the entire time. All of these crazy elements combined give him the number 4 spot on the list.

Barrett Wallace

Barrett is one of the heroes from Final Fantasy 7 and one of the few black characters in Final Fantasy period. He lost his hand and has a machine gun to replace it. While he is saving the world, he still somehow raises a daughter and protects all of his allies. Barrett is way more intimidating than any other character in the game and is one of the few characters smart enough to use firearms. His amazing arm, his intelligence to use a gun and being a father on top of this are just a few of the reasons that he is on this list.

General Beatrix

Beatrix is a temporary character in Final Fantasy IX and a general in the army. She is hands down the most powerful character in the game and before you are able to use her she can take down enemies in one hit. Even after getting her in the party she retains this amazing amount of power. She is known worldwide as the finest around. Her prowess as a swordsman, her hands down devastating attacks and her rank in the army is what places her at number 2.

Cidolfas Orlandu

Orlandu is a hero from the ever popular Final Fantasy Tactics. He is acquired around halfway through the game and has all the powers of the Holy Knight, Fell Knight and Divine Knight. These abilities make him exceptionally powerful and one of the strongest characters that you can get. He is nearly 60 years old and still able to kick nearly any enemy’s ass, you can’t get much cooler than that. All of the aforementioned elements of his character and the fact that people feared him enough to give him the title of “Thunder God Cid” are what give Orlandu the number 1 spot on our list of the most badass characters in Final Fantasy history.
