Video games are dominated with strong male leads that rush in and save the day or sometimes, even the entire universe. Despite the leads in video games being dominated by male characters, it seems like most of the lists the get published on the internet revolve around the best female leads. I have a sneaking suspicion that it has something to do with male writers. So we’re flipping the tables and look at the top male leads in games. In particular, this list looks at the manliest male leads; the ones women want and men want to be. Who are they? Well let’s take a look and find out. Maybe we left a couple out that you want or want to be. Tell us who we missed in the comments. Don’t worry, we won’t judge you.

Master Chief: Halo Series
Even though we all know that under that heavy-duty suit of technologically advanced armor there lies a pale and bald man, we know that man is one badass protector. He’s taken down entire armies of aliens and saved worlds both artificial and organic. He’s never backed down from a fight and women love a man they know can keep them safe. Men always want to be the one who can protect what they love. Because of that, Master Chief makes this list.

Frank West: Dead Rising Series
Quirky, sarcastic and ballsy – these are just a few words used to describe Frank West. Frank stormed onto the gaming scene in the hit zombie game Dead Rising and was so popular, that when he was left out of the sequel, fans demanded he make an appearance. Capcom obliged by creating some DLC that teamed Frank with Chuck “what’s-his-name”. Frank isn’t afraid to run around in his underwear either and show off his abs. He’s even done it on a mech in Lost Planet 2 and in Capcom fighting games.

Chris Redfield: Resident Evil Series
Frank West isn’t the manly man on this list that can protect men and women from hoards of zombies. Chris Redfield knows a thing or two about handling himself when waves of the undead start popping up. Chris proved his dedication to saving women in Code Veronica when his sister Claire was in distress. He’s also proven that he spends time at the gym based on the size of his arms in Resident Evil 5. Chris doesn’t always need a gun to take down enemies. He’s proven he’s pretty tough in hand to hand combat thanks to an appearance in Marvel Vs Capcom 3. Who doesn’t want to be or want to be with a good looking badass?
