Sonic used to be a big dog in the game industry along with Mario. When the jump to 3D happened the blue hedgehog just couldn't keep pace. There have been a select amount of great Sonic titles but most gamers glance over them. Sonic Generations will grab the attention of gamers as Sega flashes the presence of the older Sonic with a pot belly. So we asked the Gameplay Today staff this week what their favorite Sonic game was and of course what they were playing.

Austin Cox: Sonic & Knuckles - I know it's kind of cheating since it can technically count as three games considering the cartridge's ability to lock-on and act as an add-on to Sonic 2 and 3. Everything since S & K has been downhill with the possible exception of Sonic CD. (playing: Kung Fu Panda 2)
AJ Lysiak: Sonic Colors is really the only Sonic game I've ever found enjoyable. I was a Nintendo hardcore and the only time I ever touched a SEGA console involved Clockwork Knight. Anyway, Sonic Colors on the DS took the classic gameplay fans always praised and made it much more modern. (I'm hoping to finish up Enchanted Arms this weekend. Yes, that lousy RPG from 2006. Never finished it.)
Samuel Evans: Sonic Adventure 2 was pretty much the perfect Sonic game in 3D. Except the driving stages and those mech levels where you played as Robotnik and Tails. Other than those issues this is the last Sonic game I truly was glued too. (Iron Man 2, Assassin's Creed: Brotherhood)
Nick Gearhart: I played Sonic Adventure and enjoyed it but not for regular reasons. I thought it was very fun in a nostalgia sense but not much else. The game play was somewhat fun but also pretty dumb for a Sonic game, or at least in my opinion it was. (I will be playing some Assassin's Creed 2 after finding how much I love this series. I will also be rocking Chrono Trigger and Dragon Quest VII.)
Sean Talarico: The last sonic game I played was one of the sonics for gamegear. My family were nintendo people growing up so I never really grew accustomed to the sonic series. The gamegear one was fun but not really portable. I think I played another sonic game on neo geo pocket at some point but again I have never really been into the series. (This weekend I will be playing Everquest 2. I believe il be starting a new character ad I am an altaholic.)
Stephen Byzek: Last Sonic game I enjoyed? Sonic CD. I thought it was well done for one of those hated "3-D" sonics. Last sonic I played was secret of the rings on the Wii. Not bad, but it could have been better. (I can't believe AJ doesn't like Enchanted Arms. It reminded me a bit of Guardian War for the 3DO, which I would love a remake/sequel too.)
