Top Ten Licenses We Want Turned into LEGO Video Games Pt 1

As gamers, we love variety and new things. That’s one of the reasons the LEGO franchise of games became such a big hit when they debuted. Of course we’re talking about the LEGO games based on popular franchises like Harry Potter and Indiana Jones. Well before Traveller’s Tales turned some of our favorite movie franchises into cutesy LEGO games, the LEGO brand appeared in a wide array of titles based on the building block toys themselves. Those were fun too, but the brand wasn’t a huge hit with gamers until Lego Star Wars: The Video Game hit during the last-generation of gaming hardware. Since then, we’ve embraced one “LEGO-ized” movie franchise game after another. But maybe there are some other great licenses that would work well with the Traveller’s Tales LEGO treatment. We’re looking at those franchises and licenses in a two part segment we’re calling “Top Ten Licenses We Want Turned into LEGO Video Games”. Let’s get started with games 1 though 5!

LEGO Alien Vs Predator

LEGO Alien Vs Predator
We already know that the LEGO brand of video games developed from Traveller’s Tales does very well at retailers when they’re based on long-running movie franchises. It’s hard to find a franchise with more material ripe for being turned into a LEGO game than AvP. We’d settle for splitting the difference and getting just an Aliens or Predator title with cute little LEGO characters running around. However the idea of combining them and facing off with acid spewing LEGOs and technologically advanced hunting LEGOs is what we really want!

LEGO Castlevania

LEGO Castlevania
Much like the other entries on our list, Castlevania has rich and long history in gaming full of entrancing stories to use. The instant benefit of making a LEGO game based on Castlevania is that the name is one of the oldest and most beloved by gamers. No of course the fact that it’s a Konami property does throw a monkey wrench in the chances of it happening, but much in the same way that a cooperative deal with Disney for Pirates of the Caribbean was reached, this one could happen if WB and Konami hammered something out. We already know that Konami has been known to partner up with publishers like Take2 for baseball titles. Who wouldn’t want to see the Belmont family battling Dracula in little adorable LEGO pieces?

LEGO Halo

LEGO Halo
Stop rolling your eyes. You had to know Halo would be on the list. What initially started as an April Fools joke a few years back that sent Halo fanboys into a tizzy, this game has been whispered and mumbled about behind closed doors and among fans for years. Just like the other titles on this list, the best thing about this game would be that there’s a whole storyline and universe in place to create a great soin-off from. There’s just something about the characters from Halo in LEGO form that has us begging for this one to actually happen. The only thing standing in the way here is Microsoft. While it’s obvious that the game would have to be an Xbox brand exclusive, MS is a bit greedy and wouldn’t stand for being second banana to anyone when the royalties came into play. Again, we’re not holding our breath, but it could happen someday. MS definitely likes money and this one would make a butt load while potentially introducing the Halo name to younger gamers.
