Wasting the Weekend (5/20): LA Noire

Rockstar is one of the premiere storytellers in the video game industry. Last year they delivered an epic western tale with Red Dead Redemption. This year they have given us the long delayed but not forgotten Noir crime story LA Noire. So with the game finally releasing this week we asked the GPT staff what they thought about the game, are they excited?

Samuel Evans: My concerns with the game reside in the billing of it being a sandbox title. This game seems like a serious take on Ace Attorney's crime scene investigation and seems as much of a sandbox game as Spider-Man 3. There are landmarks you can visit and random civilians to save but not much point past that. At least in Spider-Man I could web swing. (Sims 3, Castlevania Harmony of Despair)

AJ Lysiak: I couldn't care less really. Investigation wasn't fun in CSI or Condemned and even Rockstar can't make it that exciting. (Sega Rally, Mortal Kombat)

Nick Gearhart: The game looks very interesting but it is not for me. (Will be playing Dragon Warrior/Quest 7 and Outland.)

Sean Talarico: L.A. Noire looks interesting but I haven't picked it up. If I do it'll be for PS3. (I will be playing Everquest 2 and Lume.)

Stephen Byzek: LA Noire looks like Grand Theft Auto made sweet sweet 40's love to CSI. I can't wait to play it, but sadly it's not going to be any time soon. (Saving Humanity)

LA Noire is nothing more than an over hyped $60 interactive movie. To call this a game is an insult to gaming. Gaming takes a back seat here to facial mo-cap technology.
