Wasting the Weekend (5/13): Favorite Soul Calibur?

The announcement of Soul Calibur V is not a surprising one. It was going to happen eventually. The shock came with the announcement that Soul Calibur V will take place 17 years after the fourth entry. Who will Namco retire? What new children of characters will we meet? A better question is who is your favorite Soul Calibur character? The Gameplay Today staff was able to answer that question this week.

Austin Cox: I'd have to say Ivy Valentine. She's a beast in the ring and doesn't feel it necessary to wear a bunch of armor in combat. I'm sure the designers did that to show her confidence in battle and not to show something (or somethings) else. (Civ Rev - finishing up a couple empires)

AJ Lysiak: Nightmare was always the most interesting character to me, at least in terms of character design and plot. Naturally, Siegfried and Nightmare are my two favorite characters gameplay wise. (Vanquish, Mortal Kombat)

Samuel Evans: Link, duh. If a serious answer is needed then Ivy. I loved switching between blade and whip. (Moon Diver, Star Raiders)

Sean Talarico: My favorite Soul Calibur fighter is a tie between Mitsurugi who is an awesome representation of Toshiro Mifune's samurai character and Raphael who I like because he is a fencer and quick. (This weekend I would like to be playing Everquest 2 but I'll be playing Portal 2 instead.)

Nick Gearhart: My favorite has to be Olcadan from SC3. (The Sims 3 and Portal 2)

Stephen Byzek: Yoshimitsu would be my favorite from SC2. The last entry in the series. Game Cube edition at that. (This weekend will be Gears of War. Maybe some Borderlands.)

Mitsurugi and Sigfreid are the best displaying their royal and traditinal skills in battle and still demonstrating that the blade is the earth mightiest weapon in an experts hand.
