Earlier this year, the Singapore Cybersports and Online Gaming Association held the Licence2Play Game fair in Singapore, which essentially showcased the New Paper Cyber Challenge Game Tournament, the Digital Life Android Awards, and the Licence2Play Cyber Wellness Campaign. A few weeks ago, Licence2Play is back with a Festive Edition that brought together Singaporean gamers and other hardcore players from neighboring countries.
Licence2Play events are always free, and these events allow gamers who wish to have some hands-on time with the highly anticipated real-time strategy title DOTA 2. Interested players formed a team to be able to get in on the StarHub Entertainment DOTA 2 Invitational.
The Licence2Play Festive Edition also saw to the Singapore and China Game Box Championships, and the local video game titles used in these championships matches include the digital collectible card game Tactics Anthem Online 2 for the PC platform, the action game Rocketbirds: Revolution for the PlayStation 3, Straw Hat Samurai Duels for PC, and the social title Fish-a-Fish for PC.
With all the hot video game happenings in Asia, there is little doubt that the region is a giant market of its own, with a very specific yet universal gamer culture that the Western market can only hope of ever achieving.
